Structural Integration

structural-integrative-therapy-large

Structural Integration is a form of body work that manually focuses on the connective tissue and fascia. Both connective tissue and fascia are designed to provide us with mobility. Stress and repetitive incorrect movements, and gravity can tighten connective tissue and fascia. Everything inside our bodies, muscle fiber, nerve, organ, bone, has a protective covering of connective tissue. Connective tissue is an endless web that tenses and relaxes according to the daily demands of living in gravity. Loss of movement and lack of stability develops from an accumulation of everything a person has encountered in a lifetime. Every accident, ankle twist, broken bones, any injury. They all cause the body to form connective tissue bandages to protect affected areas. There is no built in mechanism in the body to remove those bandages. The accumulation of those bandages in the body moving in gravity over time creates a lack of space inside of us. This lack of space affects mobility and many times leads to aches and pains.

Each session addresses a different area of the body in a systematic way to set a pattern of organization never forgotten by the body. As one goes through the process, the enhancement of the bodies’ performance becomes very clear. It is common to experience increased mobility and pain relief.

Benefits of Structural Integration:

    • Structural integration dramatically improves posture and resiliency
    • Increase space between joints
    • pain relief
